Posts: 986 06/21/05 12:46 AM	Tags : None Please introduce yourself here so that we can get to know you. I'm Kim. I'm 25 and graduated from Edgewood in January of 2004 with an English Writing degree. I'm not currently doing anything in my field, but my ideal job would be doing the promotional materials (web site, brochures, etc.) for a non-profit organization. This will hopefully allow me to combine my writing skills with my interest in graphic design. I enjoy watching figure skating. I'm not a figure skater, but I think it would be a fun sport to try. Posts: 386 06/22/05 10:46 PM	Hey, I'm Jen. I'm 25 and graduated from Edgewood College in 2004 (I actually walked in 2002, long story) with a degree in Religious Studies. I'm not using that degree at all, but am have returned to school to persue a Social Work degree at UW-Whitewater. I am currently living in Madison, but will be moving to Stoughton where I now work supporting people with Developmental Disabilities. I enjoy music; being with people; and being outside, especially if it involves water.

Posts: 4 07/12/05 5:05 PM	My name is Michael. I am not Catholic, though I was baptized in a Catholic church (my dad's side of the family are Irish-Catholics). I came here pretty much to learn more about Catholicism. I am a student going for a BA in History with a minor in Hebrew. I spent three years converting to Orthodox Judaism (I didn't finish my conversion) before I returned to Christ. My ministry lies in teaching the church about her Jewish roots, encouraging prayer and support for the Jewish people (teaching her about God's purpose for her), and garnering Christian support for Israel. I'll be going there on a mercy mission on July 21st. I am a non-denominational evangelical Christian.

Posts: 82 08/25/05 4:22 AM	Hello. I found your group through a stream of consciousness wandering, though a fairly intentional one. (story to follow below!) Seems like a small group, but with people that I think I will very likely enjoy talking with/learning from! My religious background: Raised RC. (baptized, 1st communion, confirmation, wedding) Mom was an organist in our small town parish. Dad not involved in organized religion, but believed in God. Still don't know the story there, but I think he was hurt/offended in some way by the institution or one of its clergy. Brother was an altar boy. I sat alone in my pew many mornings, displayed like a fish in a fishbowl in the extreme front wheelchair accessible pew so I was near my mom and the organ. (You know the culture I'm sure, where NO ONE sits in the front few pews?) Left the church when I went to college, mom arranged for a Catholic parish priest to meet us and marry us. Stuck with it a short while, and dropped out again. 5 years later, was ready to start a family. Decided to check out churches. Wanted to have dad involved and didn't want to be a stranger to the priest that would baptize my baby. I wasn't especially stuck on (but notably not "hurt" by) RC's. So we explored his childhood relationship with Episcopal churches. Long story, but we found one, fell in love with it, and I got involved in kids' Christian Formation (CF) there. 3rd-5th graders, and I started when my son was a baby - and he's now 7. (By the way, I'm 35.) I've been pondering a calling I sense in my life to deeper ministry for some time now. Explored the Episcopal diaconate....and it's still a possibility; I was really close to letting my parish priest call up a discernment committee as recently as just a few weeks ago...but something else started calling my name a great deal more strongly...my interest in adult Christian Formation, and a strong need to do something in that regard in my parish. So, I'm hoping to forge some networking contacts with CF folks in other churches, Episcopal and other denoms. I went to my mom's church's website (St. Dennis) clicked around a bit til I got to the youth page, and there was a link to your group there. So...with all that...here I am. Looking forward to listening and probably writing in from time to time. See ya later!

The board's been around for less than a year and I think we lost some people in the Ezboard fiasco. I noticed the link on St. Dennis' youth site. I thought it was a weird place for it, but I guess it worked There are a couple of us that are also involved in youth faith formation. Emily and I teach a group of Junior girls. We've been with them since they were freshman and they will be getting confirmed this year. Posts: 386 08/26/05 4:48 AM	Welcome! Which Episcopal church are you at? I have a number of Episcopal friends, all of them college and grad students. I agree adult faith formation is very important. It is something that is often found on college campuses, but not in other parishes. Without an adult program, what happens to the newly comfirmed young adults once the graduate from high school, especially those who don't go on to 4 year colleges? The Catholic Church has a faith formation program for adults, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), who wish to become Catholic or enter into full communion, and now more parishes in this area have begun adult Bible studies or prayer groups. I think adult education and outreach is an area in which the Catholic Church is begining to learn and needs to continue learning from some protestant and evangelical denominations. I don't remember if I included it in my self-introduction, but the intent of my first degree (Religious Studies) was Youth Ministry or college Campus Ministry. Although I am not currently involved in a Faith Formation program, it is an area I am still interested in.

Posts: 314 09/13/05 6:24 PM	Okay, since ezboard had a little problem awhile ago deleting all our older posts I'm going to re-introduce myself since I see there's new people who have joined us. I'm Emily and I go to Edgewood College. I'm a junior majoring in Spanish, minoring in Ethnic Studies. I've been a Catholic all my life and like having a way to communicate with others who are either Catholic or at least accepting of Catholicism. (if not maybe you're in the wrong place, I'm just kidding.) And even though most of us are Catholics I think we do have different views on issues like abortion or the death penalty. It can be cool to hear what others have to say even if they don't agree with me. (I'm pretty traditional.) I really love music and singing. If anybody can play an instrument and wants to be in a band let me know! lol (I've always wanted to be in a band.) I'm also involved with St. Bernard Players, which is a theatre group. I'm also completely unsure of what I'm suppose to do with my life. College is getting really old for me and I can't wait to get out, although I don't know what kind of job/career I want. Well, that's not exactly true because I'd love to pursue something in music, but as of right now I don't have many doors opening for me. I just want God to lead the way even though that's super hard and scary. Sorry I typed so much! If you read all this I give you a pat on the back!
